Advance isn’t a city in the formal sense — it’s an unincorporated stretch of Davie County across the Yadkin River from Clemmons — but it covers a substantial area of residential development with a character all its own. Combined with Bermuda Run, the area holds about 14,000 residents and a higher-than-average concentration of homes over 4,000 square feet. That housing stock shapes the roofing work we do here. Where a lot of the Triad is asphalt shingles and not much else, Advance is where we install more designer profiles, more standing seam metal, and more copper than almost anywhere in our service area.
From our shop on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem, Advance is a 20- to 25-minute drive west across the Yadkin. We work here regularly — particularly on the larger custom homes inside Bermuda Run and the newer subdivisions strung along Highway 158.
Materials that fit Advance roofs
A 5,000-square-foot custom home with a roof that’s highly visible from the street isn’t a candidate for builder-grade three-tab shingles. Most of our Advance work runs toward the premium end of what we install:

- Copper chimney caps and gutters. The larger brick chimneys common to Advance and Bermuda Run homes are a natural fit for our install custom copper and stainless steel caps to fit, and copper seamless gutters finish out the higher-end exteriors.
What’s different about roofing in Advance
- Bermuda Run HOA. The gated community has architectural standards that govern visible exterior work. We’re familiar with the approval process and can quote to spec so your project clears review the first time.
- Rural and acreage lots. Many Advance homes sit on 1- to 5-acre lots with mature tree canopy and deep setback from the road. Crew mobilization is similar to in-town work, but material staging and cleanup require more planning — and we plan for it before the first truck arrives.
- River-proximity humidity. Homes close to the Yadkin tend to carry slightly higher humidity exposure, which accelerates algae growth on shaded, north-facing slopes. We recommend zinc strips or algae-resistant shingles on those exposures.
- Ventilation. A roof that isn’t properly ventilated dies young — the decking cooks from below and the shingles age prematurely. On every replacement we bring ventilation to code and install continuous ridge vents with baffles, not the stamped aluminum vents that blow out in the first hailstorm.
