Roofing in Clemmons
Clemmons is a village of about 21,000 residents on the west side of Forsyth County, ten minutes from our shop on Reynolda Road. The village has grown substantially over the past 30 years — much of it driven by the development of subdivisions off Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Stratford Road, and toward Bermuda Run. That growth pattern means Clemmons has an unusual concentration of homes built in roughly the same window — late 1990s through mid-2000s — and those homes are now reaching the end of their original 20-25 year roof life essentially together.
If you live in one of these developments, you’ve probably noticed that as one neighbor replaces a roof, the next neighbor starts thinking about it. We see this pattern in Tanglewood, the developments off Peace Haven and Lewisville-Clemmons Road, and the older sections of Bermuda Run across the county line. The roofs that went up around the same time are aging out around the same time.

What’s different about roofing in Clemmons

- Concentrated roof age. As mentioned above, large pockets of Clemmons have homes built within a 5-year window. If your neighbor just replaced their roof, yours is probably due. If your roof is original to a 1998-2005 construction, you’re past the warning track.
- Tree canopy variation. Older Clemmons (near the village core) has heavier mature canopy; newer subdivisions are more open. Open exposures get more UV; shaded exposures get more moss and algae. We recommend shingle types accordingly.
- Larger homes, bigger budgets. Clemmons has a higher concentration of larger custom homes (3,500 sq ft and up) than most of Forsyth County. The Owens Corning Berkshire designer shingles, standing seam metal accents, and copper chimney caps that look incongruous on a 1,800 sq ft ranch are appropriate scale here.
