Roofing in King — Serving Stokes County and the North Triad.

We work in King regularly, bringing Owens Corning Platinum Preferred installation standards to the homes north of Winston-Salem.

Roofing in King

King is a town of about 7,000 in Stokes County, just north of the Forsyth County line and about 25 minutes from our shop. The town sits at the southern edge of the Sauratown Mountains — Pilot Mountain is visible from much of the area — and the residential character reflects that: more rural lots, larger setbacks, and a noticeable increase in metal roofing compared to the urban Triad.

We work in King regularly. Many of our customers there are homeowners who’ve owned the property for a long time and need a roof every 20-25 years; others are newer arrivals in the small subdivisions that have grown around the town center. The roofing mix runs from older farmhouses with multiple roof eras layered together (we frequently find three or four roofs over the original decking) to newer 1990s and 2000s construction now reaching first-replacement age.

What we do across King

  • Residential roof replacement — asphalt architectural shingles primarily, with notable demand for standing seam metal on newer construction and on outbuildings
  • Roof repair — leak detection, flashing, storm damage
  • Standing seam metal installation — increasingly popular in Stokes County for both primary homes and outbuildings; we install in painted steel and aluminum
  • Gutters — seamless aluminum
  • Siding — Hardie and vinyl
  • Window replacement
  • Custom chimney caps — common for the brick chimneys on Stokes County farmhouses
  • Commercial roofing — for the small commercial inventory along Main Street and the surrounding business corridors

Where we work in King and Stokes County

About 25 minutes north of our shop. We cover:

  • King: town center and surrounding subdivisions
  • Walnut Cove: adjacent town we work in regularly
  • Pinnacle and Pilot Mountain: further north and west
  • Tobaccoville: between King and Winston-Salem
  • Rural Hall: technically in Forsyth County but we cover it as part of the King area
  • Rural Stokes County: farmhouses and acreage homes throughout

What’s different about roofing in King

  • Mountain-edge weather. King is at the southern foothills of the Sauratowns. Wind events are common (Pilot Mountain’s profile channels weather), and we install roofs to the higher wind-rating end of manufacturer specifications when warranted.
  • More metal roofs. Stokes County has a higher proportion of standing seam and corrugated metal roofs than the urbanized Triad. We’re set up for it and we install both routinely.
  • Large lot mobilization. Many King homes are on 1-5+ acre lots with substantial setbacks. Material staging and cleanup require more planning than in dense suburbs.
  • Older farmhouses with layered roof history. It’s common in Stokes County to find homes where multiple roofs have been installed over the original decking. When we tear off, we remove down to the deck (not just to the most recent membrane) and inspect for hidden rot.

Storm damage in King

Stokes County gets occasional heavy weather, including wind events that affect the foothills more than the urban Triad. Storm chasers do work the area, but less aggressively than in the cities.

Our process: free inspection, written report, direct work with adjusters, honest scopes. We work with rural insurance adjusters routinely.
