Roofing in Advance
Advance is an unincorporated community in Davie County, across the Yadkin River from Clemmons. Itβs not a city in the formal sense, but it covers a substantial area of residential development β including the higher-end Bermuda Run community and a mix of newer subdivisions and rural acreage homes. Combined with Bermuda Run, the area has about 14,000 residents and a higher-than-average concentration of larger custom homes.
For us, Advance is a 20-minute drive across the Yadkin River from our shop in Winston-Salem. We work here regularly, particularly on the larger custom homes in Bermuda Run and the newer subdivisions along Highway 158.

Whatβs different about roofing in Advance
- Premium custom homes. Advance and Bermuda Run have a higher concentration of homes over 4,000 sq ft than almost anywhere else in our service area. The materials we install reflect that: more designer shingles, more metal accents, more copper chimney caps, more copper gutters.
- Bermuda Run HOA. The gated community has architectural standards that govern visible exterior work. Weβre familiar with the approval process and can quote to spec.
- Rural and acreage lots. Many Advance homes sit on 1-5 acre lots with mature tree canopy and significant setback from the road. Mobilization for crews is similar to in-town work, but cleanup and material staging require more planning.
- River-proximity weather. Homes close to the Yadkin River tend to have slightly higher humidity exposure, which can accelerate algae growth on shaded north-facing exposures. We recommend zinc strips or algae-resistant shingles.
Storm damage in Advance
Same Triad weather, with occasional localized variations because of the river and the lower elevation. Storm chasers work the area, particularly Bermuda Run, after notable events.
