Roofing for Clemmons homes
Clemmons is a village of about 21,000 on the west side of Forsyth County, ten to fifteen minutes from our shop on Reynolda Road. That short drive matters: we’re not a regional chain routing a truck in from another county, we’re on roofs across the village every week and we know the housing stock by name. Much of Clemmons went up in a tight window — late 1990s through the mid-2000s — across the subdivisions off Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Stratford Road, and out toward Bermuda Run. That means a lot of these homes are reaching the end of their original 20-25 year roof life at roughly the same time.
We’re a full-service residential roofing company. Whatever your roof needs — a full system from the deck up, a repair after a storm, or an honest inspection before a real estate closing — we have the trained, in-house crew to do it right. Our roofers are W-2 employees, not subcontractors. The same people who tear off your roof are the people backing the warranty in year ten.
The Clemmons roof-age cluster
We see a distinct pattern here that we don’t see everywhere: roofs aging out in pockets. In Tanglewood, the developments off Peace Haven and Lewisville-Clemmons Road, and the older sections of Bermuda Run across the Davie County line, homes built within a five-year window are now hitting the wall together. When one neighbor replaces a roof, the next two start thinking about it. If your roof is original to a 1998-2005 build, you’re past the warning track.
For these homes we install architectural shingles almost exclusively — three-tab is being phased out and offers worse long-term value. We’re an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, the top 1% of OC contractors in North America, and we also install GAF and CertainTeed. On the larger custom homes (3,500 sq ft and up) that Clemmons has more of than most of Forsyth County, the Owens Corning Berkshire designer line and standing seam metal accents are appropriately scaled — profiles that look right on a big home near Peace Haven and would look incongruous on an 1,800 sq ft ranch.
What’s different about roofing here
- HOA color and style lists. Many Clemmons developments have HOAs with approved shingle specs. We know most of them and can quote to your HOA’s approved color from the first estimate, so you’re not redoing the paperwork after a board rejection.
- Tree canopy variation. Older Clemmons near the village core sits under heavy mature canopy — those shaded exposures grow moss and algae, so we recommend algae-resistant shingles. The newer subdivisions are more open and take more UV. We match the shingle to the exposure.
- Brick chimneys. A lot of Clemmons homes came with brick chimneys standard. We install copper and stainless chimney caps in-house and rebuild the flashing properly while we’re up there.
- Roof-and-siding combos. Hardie siding is the most common upgrade we install in Clemmons, and homeowners often pair it with a roof replacement on the same project to save a mobilization.
Ventilation that makes the roof last
Most of the builder-grade roofs in Clemmons subdivisions went up with undersized or unbalanced ventilation. When we replace a roof we bring it to code — roughly 1 sq ft of net free area per 300 sq ft of attic, balanced between intake and exhaust — and we install continuous ridge vents with baffles, not the stamped aluminum vents that blow off in the first hailstorm. This is the unglamorous part of roofing that decides whether your new roof lasts 25 years or 35.
Storm damage and the door-knockers
The same hail and wind events that hit Winston-Salem hit Clemmons, and out-of-state storm chasers work the village aggressively afterward. Our process is a free inspection with photos, a written report for your insurer, direct work with the adjuster if you want it, and honest scoping — we don’t pad estimates to insurance. If someone has been knocking on doors in your subdivision after a storm, get a second opinion before you sign anything.
