Siding Installation in High Point, From Emerywood to Skeet Club

Fiber cement, vinyl, and engineered wood siding installed across High Point's older neighborhoods and newer subdivisions — with the wrap and flashing details that keep water out for the long haul.

Siding that fits High Point’s range of homes

High Point’s housing stock runs the full spectrum, and good siding work has to meet each part of it on its own terms. In Emerywood and the historic district downtown, you have homes built from the 1920s through the 1950s — brick-and-frame construction where the siding is often original wood or, in too many cases, the aluminum that went up in the 1960s and 70s. In Greenway, Skeet Club, and Deep River, mid-century construction is reaching the age where the original siding is genuinely failing. And the 1990s and 2000s builder homes off Eastchester Drive and Skeet Club Road are now hitting the point where their builder-grade vinyl is fading, warping, or pulling loose at the corners.

A siding install in any of these neighborhoods isn’t interchangeable. The 1920s home in Emerywood needs a profile that respects its original lines; the cul-de-sac home off Eastchester needs a clean re-side that holds its color for the next twenty years.

Siding is a system, not just a covering

Most siding failures aren’t failures of the material — they’re failures of what’s underneath it. House wrap that wasn’t taped, missing kickout flashing where the siding meets a roof, J-channel details done wrong around windows. By the time you see the damage from the street, the OSB sheathing behind it has been wet for years. We install on the assumption that water will get behind the siding eventually, so every element — wrap, flashing, and intentional drainage gaps — exists to give it somewhere safe to go.

Every job starts with a full tear-off, sheathing inspection and replacement of any rotted plywood or OSB, properly lapped and taped house wrap, peel-and-stick membrane at window heads, jambs, and sills, kickout flashing, and finished trim and corner work.

What we install in High Point

  • James Hardie fiber cement (HardiePlank). The premium standard for the Southeast — it doesn’t burn, rot, or feed termites, and it holds paint 12 to 15 years. We install it most often on the mid-range and higher-end homes around Emerywood and the newer west-side developments. We’re trained on Hardie’s spec because Hardie’s warranty depends on correct fastening and gap details.
  • Premium vinyl (CertainTeed, Mastic). The right call for the maturing builder homes off Eastchester and Skeet Club where the original contractor-grade vinyl has warped in the summer heat. We use real, thicker premium-grade vinyl — not the thin stuff that buckles.
  • LP SmartSide engineered wood. A middle ground with real wood texture, well-suited to modern farmhouse builds in the newer north-side subdivisions.
  • Cedar shake (specialty). For specific historic-district applications where nothing else gives the right look.

Common siding problems we fix here

  • Old aluminum siding — still common on High Point’s 1960s and 70s homes; we replace with Hardie or premium vinyl.
  • Water damage behind siding — usually traceable to missing kickout flashing or untaped wrap.
  • Buckling vinyl on the 1990s-2000s builder homes — almost always from being nailed too tight when vinyl needs to float.
  • Failing paint on older wood and Hardie past its maintenance interval.

Why High Point homeowners choose Mid Atlantic

Our shop is on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem — about a 30-minute drive to High Point, not a national franchise that disappears after the season. We run in-house W-2 crews on every job, with no subcontractors, so the same people who scope your siding are the ones who install it. We carry an A+ BBB rating and 4.8 stars on Google and Facebook, we handle the full envelope including trim and finish carpentry, and we back every job with a 3-year workmanship warranty.
